I bought this rod a couple weeks ago, almost as a joke because of the size. But let me tell you this rod is no joke! It’s a great rod for freshwater and saltwater! A couple days ago, caught a 4 pound lingcod on it! I also caught a 2 pound rainbow trout, great little rod! But, there’s one small problem. It’s mostly a cosmetic problem so I’m not too worried, when you tighten down the reel seat it ends up bending the part of the reel that goes in the seat. It still functions just fine and all but kind of annoying to see when you removing the reel.

I was on vacation in North Carolina on Jeannette's fishing pier fishing for Spanish mackerel when I saw a group of high school kids pull up. There was a huge cow nose sting ray that was basking in the sun. One of the kids had a dock runner and a 3000 size spinning reel and a buck tail tied on with 80lb braid... snagged the stingray and got it in to the pier absolutely amazed and instantly got one ordered

Although I have yet to fish with this combo, the in-store purchase allows me to test out the reel and rod hands-on. The quality is what you could expect for $15.99. However, because of the cheap cork and the integrated reel seat lock into the handle, the rod is quite nice. The reel has some noticeable inertia, but once you start reeling, it becomes a lot smoother.

Bought this combo a few back as a backup for out on the kayak... factory mono line was immediately replaced by braided... But rod and reel have seen a lot of action including a 6lb Largemouth and held up AMAZINGLY!!!

We absolutely love our rock runner - it's compact size fits perfectly in the car and the smooth action when cast gives it a higher-end feel. It's sensitivity has helped us catch a ton of small bait fish. This is a perfect combo and a must for anyone who might want to keep a small combo in the car!
