Picked up a pair of these to match up with some Penn Battle III 5000 DX reels and was somewhat concerned by the Heavy/50-100 lb rating. I couldn't find any in the local stores and ordered these based on the description and product reviews. I was relieved to find that the action was more in the 30-to-50 lb class, with a sensitive tip section, which was perfect for my application since the 5000-series Battle III DXs were spooled with 30-lb braid. Minus 1-star for a misleading label on the rod. Hopefully these will last 7-years of saltwater coastal use as the warranty implies.

I have a few different types of these rods. You can't beat them for the money.

Great rod for the price. They have changed the guides, butt, and there is no hook catch any longer. Not a fan of no hook catch and these new guides seem to corrode faster than the old ones. Still a good value though.

I plan to swap out all my other rods for the fleet of Ugly Stik Tiger Elite Jigging Spin Rod. Paired the 6' Heavy with a Daiwa BG 6500, and crushed it while fishing offshore in NC. I also have the 6'6" MH paired with a Daiwa BG 5000 and that set up worked just as well. These rods are strong and they do not compromise sensitivity. I am pairing the 5'10" Heavy Ugly Stik Tiger Elite Bait Cast Jigging with the Daiwa Tanacom 500 or 750 for a 52hr deep drop run in the Gulf this coming Oct and will look to report back then.
