Great knife but with unnecessary sharp hook on top

We have an array of different filet knives ar our fish camp with Ugly Stik knife being the latest. It is quite good and I made quick work of a dozen walleyes. Unfortunately I was left with many cuts on my hands from the sharp hook on the top. No one could fugure out its purpose. On day 2, I taped it up enough to save my hands from more cuts. We will likely find a grinder and grind it down to make it isafe.

    Great Knife

Have had this knife for a couple months now. Knife has a good oversize nonslip grip with large guards at front of grip. The blade has a medium flex and is quite sharp. This is a good medium size blade for medium to large fish.

Handle design line cutter and scabbard

The Ugly Stik Ugly Tool 7" tapered knife is a very nice knife. I -refer a knife that around 7" when I fillet salmon. I have used the knife to fillet ~ 80 sockeye salmon so far and have not had to resharpen it yet. This knife is just the right stiffness to allow you to fillet fish without the knife flexing and making this task more difficult. The handle is a little larger than most knives which makes it very comfortable to use. This knife has a nice feature which allows you to cut line while the knife is still sheathed in its scabbard. This was well thought out and while it allows you to use it, there is no exposure to the knife that would allow for accidentally cutting yourself as it is in a notch that is protected by the scabbard. The scabbard is another nice feature to this knife. It protects the blade but allows for the blade to dry after use which will prevent potential rusting issues after use and washing of the blade. The scabbard hooks on to the handle of the knife and is very secure which will prevent loss but comes free with little effort to allow fo use. I am very impressed with this knife and would give this knife a 5 star rating.

    Stays sharp!

I have used this knife in a saltwater environment for two months. The coated blade has prevented any rust from starting. The handle is very comfortable and doesn't slip in your hand. It has a line cutter on the top that is a nice additional feature. The sheath is a vented plastic that stays in place while allowing the blade to stay dry.

    Super sharp!

I have had this knife a month or two. Great blade, super sharp. Stayed sharp after filleting several fish as well. The only drawback, which to most will be minor is the handle could be a little smaller. Cumbersome at times. Overall I am very happy witht he knife, and it is made really well.
